I have struggled with my weight all my life, so I knew I needed and wanted a change. I was already doing boot camp 3 days a week, but felt that I needed more and what better person to help me than Lin Johnson. When Fit in the City started I was a little scared because it was getting me out of my comfort zone by trying new foods, new activities and a new way of thinking. I always thought if I worked out and watched what I ate I would be able to lose weight and be healthy. But I was so wrong and Lin was able to guide me in the right path and teach me how to choose well balanced meals with all the major components needed for a healthy lifestyle.
We focused on setting goals, using a journal and making sure I was holding myself accountable. It was great to know that Lin was just a phone call away if I needed coaching or a pep talk. The rest of the group was also supportive and helpful.
Fit in the City was not just about losing weight, but also growing and pushing me to new limits. With the weight and inches I lost I was able to run a personal best mile of (9:40). Not even in my Navy days was I able to achieve such a time.
I never saw Fit in the City as a diet but as a lifestyle change, something I wanted to do but could never achieve. Lin provided the accountability and knowledge I needed to move forward. I will always be grateful to her and Fit in the City.
